YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Sunday declared that if YSRCP candidates get elected in the by polls, within one year the state would go for general elections.
'The forthcoming by polls are like semi finals. If you vote for the YSRCP candidates, the general elections will be round the corner,' he said.
He also reiterated that the by polls in the state were not a contest between two individual or parties but they were fought between the farmers, poor people on one side, conspirators on the other.
Speaking at several places as part of the road show, Jagan said the present political system in the state was rotting and there was a need to bring new value based political system.
The welfare schemes started by late YS Rajasekhara Reddy were not been implemented by the present regime. Under Arogyasree alone, the government had removed as many as 135 ailments from the programme.
Similarly, surgeries to children were also exempted from Arogyasree and the poor families have to spend about Rs 6 lakh on each child, he said.
Opposing the state government anti people policies and governance, legislators supporting YSRCP have quit their legisalatureships.
This was supreme sacrifice they did for the people. Due to the wrong policies of the government, farmers in the state have declared crop holidays for the first time in the recent past, Jagan said.
The YSRCP President also warned the people against the state ministers who would open their currency bags during the poll. He urged the Narasannapeta voters to vote for YSRCP candidate D Krishna Das. He kick start the campaign in Narasannapeta.
Jagan was accorded grand welcome at Etcherla and Ranasthalam. He participated in bike rally in Mabgaon in Narasannapeta. Jagan would campaign for next three days in the district. He also interacted with local farmers and women.
