Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday announced that a decision with regard to the Polavaram tenders would be taken in the next two to three days.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating Praja Patham programme at Zilla Parishad School at Nakkapalli, the Chief Minister said that the works on the Polavaram project would be started soon and a decision to call fresh tenders would be taken during next week.
It may be mentioned that the tenders for Polavaram project were cancelled following Telugu Desam Party's allegations that the government favoured Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the tender process.
The Chief Minister said that the Praja Patham programme was being taken up in 22,800 villages across the State. He said several issues related to rural health care and infrastructure would be solved during the programme.
He admitted that there were some problems in the functioning of 104 Emergency Services and efforts were being made to resolve them.
Kiran Kumar Reddy also assured that the government would take measures to ensure proper supply of drinking water and electricity during the summer.
He said the government would provide loans to women to the tune of Rs 11,500 crore this year. Further, he announced that Gurukul schools would be set up for the children of fishermen at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore.
Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju and others public representatives participated in the programme.
It may be mentioned that Praja Patham programme will be held from April 15 (Sunday) to May 5 covering all the Gram Panchayats\Wards in the State.
