Health and Family Welfare Minister DL Ravindra Reddy on Sunday made a shocking statement that he was planning to quit politics permanently.
Talking to reporters here, Ravindra Reddy said that the political situation in the State has turned worse and no political party, including the ruling Congress party, appears sincere towards solving the problems being faced by the people. Therefore, he said he was considering taking a permanent exit from the active politics.
However, Ravindra Reddy said he would take a final decision in this regard after consulting the Congress workers and people of his constituency Mydukur in Kadapa district.
Ravindra Reddy said that the State Government has failed to understand and solve the problems being faced by the people in the State.
He said that the political situation in the State was much similar to one that prevailed in the 1970s when no party or government was effectively working for people's welfare.
However, he said that he was still with the Congress party due to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi who have been striving hard to ensure people's welfare.
The minister also demanded an enquiry into the utilisation of funds by different departments of State Government. He hinted at massive diversion or misappropriation of funds.
It may be mentioned that Ravindra Reddy had strained relationship with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy after the last cabinet expansion. He threatened to resign from the cabinet after he was stripped off important portfolios.
Although he was pacified by PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana, he again submitted his resignation from the cabinet to Congress president Sonia Gandhi last month, which was yet to be accepted or rejected.
