The State Government on Sunday returned another 35 acres of prime land worth over Rs 100 crore belonging to the Baba Hazrat Sharfuddin Dargah in Pahadi Shareef to the Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board.
The land was encroached upon by the revenue department and allotted for developing a Special Economic Zone in 2007.
RR District Joint Collector Sudarshan Reddy handed over documents of Wakf property located at Koheda village in Hayathnagar mandal to Wakf Board chairman Syed Afzal Biyabani Khusro Pasha in the presence of Minorities Welfare Minister Syed Mohammad Ahmedullah, MW Secretary Dana Kishore and MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi at the State Secretariat.
Talking to reporters later, the minister assured of taking all steps for the protection of Wakf properties in the State. He also assured that steps would be taken to remove the encroachments from Wakf properties in the State.
While thanking the government for returning the Wakf land, Akbaruddin Owaisi demanded that the government should act fast for the restoration of Wakf lands in other places in the city.
