YSR not Anti-Dalit: YSR Cong

Taking strong objection to Congress leaders' remarks that dalits were not benefited during YSR term in the State, YSR Congress Party on Monday said facts and figures clearly call the bluff of Amalapuram MP Harsha Kumar and others.

'Congress leaders trying to brand YSR as anti-dalit, is part of the Congress game plan to attack YSR but the welfare schemes implemented by him as Chief Minster were all approved by Sonia Gandhi.

So who is to be blamed? The leaders using their lung power, should decide,' YSRC leader and party leader, K Srinivasulu told reporters here.

If Harsha Kumar, Kondru Murali and JD Seelam start telling people that dalits got a raw deal during YSR term, they should also accept that Sonia Gandhi was equally responsible for the discrimination, if there was any such perception, Srinivasulu, the Koduru MLA who stood in favour of the no confidence motion and got disqualified, said.

Expressing confidence that YSRC will win all the 18 assembly and one Lok Sabha seat in the ensuing by-elections, he said dalits benefited immensely while YSR was chief minister.

'It was only during YSR term that dalits were given a good deal when compared to the nine-year TDP rule or with the governance in other States in the country. In the three years after YSR's death there is not a single welfare scheme for dalits that the Congress has launched,' he said.

Describing the three Congress leaders speaking out against YSR as a strategy adopted jointly by Congress and TDP leaders, who recently met in Delhi, he said, while SC Corporation was neglected by the previous governments, it was only YSR who waived loans worth Rs 1.120 crores margin money benefiting 17.80 lakh dalits.

Nearly 10 lakh acres of waste land belonging to dalits was brought under cultivation with Indira Kranti Pathakam in two phases by YSR.

While TDP has spent Rs 85 crores in four years for SCs in housing sector, YSR Government has given Rs 523 crores, he said.

While TDP has allocated Rs 532 crores in 2001 and increased it to Rs 807 crores in 2004, YSR began with Rs 860 crores that very same year and in three years he increased it to Rs 1,179 crores, Srinivasulu said.

It was YSR who allocated Rs 337.22 crores for self-employment schemes for SCs in 2008. If the Congress leaders are speaking through their hat, they can influence the party high command and cancel all the welfare schemes, he added.
